The Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance (the Alliance) is established with an aim to create a sustainable shopping environment in town by building a collaborative platform which engages mall operators and shop tenants. Until now, 17 Developers, 109 Malls and 425 Shops have joined the Alliance.
With the introduction of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Charging Scheme, it is important for shopping malls and their tenants to get ready for the new initiative as early as possible. Therefore, the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Environmental Protection Department are jointly organising the event to enhance the understanding of the commercial and retail industry on this important waste reduction initiative and to facilitate sharing on how they can prepare for it.
On the occasion, Mr KS WONG, Secretary for the Environment, will provide an update of the latest development of the MSW Charging Scheme. Relevant experience and challenges in getting ready for MSW charging and waste reduction will also be presented by distinguished speakers and industry players.
